Toscana Rosso ‘Pian del Ciampolo’ | Montevertine
About The Producer
Producer of the infamous Le Pergole Torte wine, Montervine lies within the heart of the Chianti hills, in the community of Radda at an altitude of 425 m above sea level. Documents show that the site has been dwelled since the 11th century. Traces of the original construction, which undoubtedly was of defensive nature and which later on had been converted to a rural housing, are still preserved.
About The Wine
The vineyards for Pian del Ciampoli were planted in 2003, a surface 1.5 hectares exposed towards W-NW. About 90% of all vines planted are Sangiovesegrapes. The remaining 10% includes Colorino and Canaiolo grapes. The density amounts to 5,000 vines per hectare. The wine, a blend of Sangiovese, 5% Cannaiolo and 5% Colorino is fermented in cement vats for 25 days and will eventually spend 18 months in Slavonian oak with a further 6 months refinement in bottle.
Tasting Note
Pian del Ciampolo bottling is made for earlier drinking. This is a delightfully light style of Sangiovese, with fresh red cherry fruit aromas, notes of red currants and herb. With its perfectly lively fruit, balanced out by earthy tannins and enjoyable acidity this is a great wine.

Stunning!!! Elegance draped in seductive cherries. Not as good as Le Pergole Torte obviously but at this price it’s a must.
