Taurasi | Feudo di San Gregorio
About The Producer
Feudo di San Gregorio is widely recognised as one of Italy's most dynamic and innovative wine estates. Based in Irpinia in Campania it has single handedly pioneered winemaking in the region. Investing everything in Campania's indiginous grape varieties the likes of Fiano, Greco and Falanghina are well and truly on the Italian wine map.
About The Wine
100% Aglianico sourced from the Taurasi, Pietradefusi and Sant’Angelo all’Esca regions which contain deep volcanic ash deposits with clayey, sandy and alluvial elements under a surface bed rich in humus. Harvesting is by hand during the last ten days of October, before whole bunches are de-stemmed and crushed, then macerated on the skins for 10-12 days during fermentation which is in steel at a controlled temperature of 26°. Malolactic fermentation is then encouraged and the wine is aged in new French barriques with a medium toast for 18 months.
Tasting Note
Fragrant aromas of black cherry, vanilla and spice. The wine is rich and juicy with a good structure and balance, dry refined tannins with a long velvety finish.
