Toscana Rosso ‘Moro’ | Fattoria Montellori
About The Producer
Fattoria Montellori is located off the beaten track, in the Montalbano zone of Chianti to the west of Florence, in the Tuscan town of Fucecchio. The Montellori estate, which is also known as Castel Rapiti, dates from 1293, and is among the most important estates in this area.
About The Wine
This is a blend of 75% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon all of which are vinified separately at controlled temperatures. The wine then sleeps for 12-14 months in French barrique.
Tasting Note
The 2005 is now drinking exceptionally well with a mature nose of prunes, figs with tertiary flavours of earth, leather and smoke all evident. On the palate the wine is soft and velvety with a long lingering finish.
