Aglianico del Vulture ‘La Firma’ | Cantine del Notaio
About The Producer
Cantine del Notaio is one of the top estates in Basilicata. The company cellars are located in ancient tufo rock caves which run under the town of Rionero in Vulture. Notaio is named after the notary public profession and consequently the wines are named accordingly, ‘La Firma’ meaning ‘The Signature’
About The Wine
The name La Firma refers to the signature at the end of a notarial contract. La Firma is a D.O.C. wine obtained from Aglianico del Vulture grapes. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of November. After a long maceration lasting some 25 days, the wine obtained is transferred to the aging cellar - a series of natural volcanic tufo grottoes - maturing in mainly first passage French oak barriques for some 12 months.
Tasting Notes
This is a stunning Aglianico, full of dark seductive fruit and complex aromas of earth, aniseed, and bitter cherry. A robust wine, with soft delicate tannin. One of our favourite wines.

La Firma, 2004
A deep crimson colour. Enormously full bouquet of ripe cherries, blackcurrant and plums.
Very smooth, rounded flavour with extraordinary depth and length.
From someone who has worked with and enjoyed fine wines from all over the world for decades, I have not enjoyed a red wine so much for many years.
Vino dal sapore intenso e raffinato… vorresti non finisse mai…se poi aggiungi la giusta compagnia e la giusta location (“Il Cantiniere” a Catania) il successo e’ assicurato
Consiglio a tutti di provarlo!!!
