Maremma Rosso ‘Principe’ | Antonio Camillo
About The Producer
Antonio Camillo has worked at Poggio Argentiera for nearly 10 years, and continues to do so today even though he realised his dream of becoming a wine producer after many years of making wine for others. They started this joint-venture together with the lease of nearly abandoned vines from old vineyards located not far from Antonio's home village in the area between Manciano and Pitigliano, the so called "Alta Maremma". This really is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt terroirs of Maremma, overlooking the sea at an altitude between 300-550 m above sea level. From this project they have started to make two wines that, we believe, can be very representative of this magnificent area.
About The Wine
Two hectares of 40 year old vines planted with little known Maremma variety Ciliegolo produce only around 13 000 bottles of this excellent little wine that is exemplary of the wine revolution taking place on the Tuscan coast at the moment.
Tasting Notes
Explosive freshness, gorgeous colour and masses of cherry and ripe fruit.
