Cellar Plan

Cellar Plan

Starting a cellar does not have to be a costly exercise and it does not have to be all about making high yielding investments. Having said that, it is true that knowing what to buy and when to drink it or sell it, can help your cellar self fund, leaving you drinking fine wines whenever you feel like it. Ultimately starting a cellar is about pleasure. The pleasure of discovering and collecting wines and following them on their journey to maturity, will almost certainly be a rewarding experience. Cantina Caputo offers three structured cellar plans to suit respective budgets.

Just Starting Out

Daniel Smith knows absolutely nothing about wine. Not a problem, everyone has to start somewhere. He does however want to dip his toes in the water before deciding whether building a cellar is something he wants to do. He plans to buy small quantities of wine from around the world in order to decipher his tastes.

Enthusiast

If you are just starting out with your interest in wine or your desire to start a cellar the chances are your preferences will be geared more towards filling the racks with good quality drinking wine and perhaps the odd case to lay down and mature. It is also less likely that you will be making buying decisions based on making a profit further down the line. The ‘just starting out’ cellar plan suits many people who are still finding there way amongst the thousands of styles available, giving them a chance to drink and experiment before making longer term investments. This plan focuses on more everyday wines to fill the racks and it ensures you will always have plenty of good wine ready to drink.

Example

Alexander Gross is a recent graduate and is quickly developing an interest in wine. He is keen to learn more and extend his tasting experiences. As a regular entertainer Alex gets through alot of wine and it is therefore important that he has good quality drinking wines available. He has decided to tailor his cellar plan to ensure he has a broad range of every day wines with just the odd indulgence to lay down. Last months purchases were as follows;

Building For The Future

Our ‘building for the future’ cellar plan combines a selection of good drinking wines with good value selections to lay down. This plan allows one to start their collection with wines that will mature and improve with age. This cellar plan option builds on the entry level proposal by focusing an even split on maintaining every day drinking while ensuring a good supply of wines approaching maturity.
